One of my biggest concerns on the 4th Ave project was the pool. The old plaster had begun chipping away in large chunks. The plastic spacers in the pool deck were all cracked, broken, and faded. Some people recommended just filling it in, but we all know how nice it is to have a pool during a hot Sacramento Summer day.
For those who haven’t experienced the daunting and undesired cost to re-plaster a pool aren’t missing much; however, like having to face all eventual capital expenditures on your house (roof, HVAC, etc.) everything has a useful life and must eventually be repaired or replaced. This pool was most likely constructed in the late 70’s / early 80’s so the useful life of an in-ground plastered pool is a few decades.
Well, the work on the pool is complete (except for the required complete scrub down 2x/day for the next 2 weeks by none other than Joe and I :-/), and it looks amazing! Came out better than I could have imagined, and guarantees the new buyer will have many worry free and relaxing summers to come…
